The Protection stage of CleanMyMac includes a scan for malware that references a database of malware. There’s an option to choose a suitable period to scan for and CleanMyMac gets to work cleaning things up and protecting privacy. This helps to scan for privacy issues and can wipe out unwanted traces of chat logs, browsing history, cookies, downloads, recent item lists and all the other stuff that can clog up your Mac’s system. The second stage of the Protection Module is called Privacy. A database of all these issues is kept up-to-date by the team at MacPaw so that it’s always up with the latest threat to Macs. If CleanMyMac notices something suspicious, it will offer to remove it immediately. The Malware Removal module scans the system for vulnerabilities and hazards like adware, viruses, spyware, and cryptocurrency miners. The second stage of Smart Scan is called Protection and this is where malware and viruses get hunted down. Smart Scan tells you exactly how much space will be freed up and you’ll probably be surprised by how much space you can recover. However, in my experience, it’s usually safe to go ahead and get rid of all that bloat without any worry. There is an option to uncheck any one of these categories if you’re a bit nervous about deleting something. This is all stuff that’s no longer needed, and which can safely be wiped. The files are divided into categories such as photo junk, mail attachments, trash bins, iTunes junk and system junk.
This is all about hunting down old files and data that is taking up space. I am aiming for something like Mactracker but with a interactive filter like PCPartPickjer but for hardware/devices that I can specify and manage on the backend. The first stage of Smart Scan is called Cleanup. Is it possible to create an interactive reference system on a SharePoint site? Details below Always useful to know any tidbit on a device.

I want this article to be as complete as possible and fun to read, full of high-quality pictures. It won’t be easy to go back forty years back, but it’s worth it. Using the excellent and must-have utility, MacTracker, which I should have included in my post “The Perfect Apple Enthusiast - Find Out Where You Stand”, I started to process of going back in times. I'd recommend EtreCheck Pro to anyone.Ģ019 MBP seems to be lagging/running slowerįor number 3, I’d download Malwarebytes, and run a malware scan.įor number 4, you’ll want to download Etrecheck, which is a free tool that generates a complete health and diagnostic report of your Mac. You shall check launchAgent and launchDaemon with tools, since the apps registrations are XML files and hard to read by human beings.
If you want, you can share the report here (it’s anonymized) and maybe one of us can help you figure out what’s going on. It can help you identify potential causes. One tool I find useful for diagnosing issues is EtreCheck. If you need quick self diagnose, get EtreCheck Pro. I erased and reinstalled (which took 6 hours…), it’s still running extremely slow even in the terminal and I don’t know what to do My Mac had been running slow for months, eventually it barely worked at all then it got stuck on boot.
